— Deb has been a resident of the South University Neighborhood since 1990 which makes her something of an urban pioneer. Active in SUN for 5 years, she served as Vice-President 2005 through 2007 and Community Liaison from 2007 through 2010. She created SUN's first newsletter in 2008, our Block Captain program in 2009 and coordinates neighborhood volunteers. Deb led the successful petition drive to expand Residential Permit Parking (RPP) from 8th through 10th Streets in 2007 and helped complete RPP expansion to 11th Street in 2010. She coordinated tree plantings within SUN in 2007 and Organized National Nights Out from 2006-2008. Along with Sandra Soellner, Deb co-created the Safe Sun Initiative. She has dozens of volunteer experiences under her belt such as the revitalization of the neighborhood created mural at Spartan Market, Dumpster Days, Neighborhood Clean-ups, the annual Warm Coat Drive for Lowell School children and lots of neighborhood social events. She is an award-winning, published documentary writer and was named the principal writer for Hewlett-Packard Archives during the HP Garage preservation and renovations 2005. She and her husband just completed a renovation-remodel of their 100-year-old Queen Anne cottage. She loves spending time with her rescued dogs Wiley and Lucky.
