SecretaryMatthew Hall — Matthew has been Secretary since November 2010. It is the first time he has been on the Board. "I have lived on Carrie Street since 1989. All four children grew up in the neighborhood, starting school at Lowell Elementary. I grew up in a victorian neighborhood of London, and I am delighted to have settled in an area that reminds me of my childhood." Matthew has worked at a variety of computer and internet companies, including Yahoo!, and has been helping SUN with the use of online tools, such as this website.

Vice PresidentDeborah Hudson — Deb has been a resident of the South University Neighborhood since 1990 which makes her something of an urban pioneer. Active in SUN for 5 years, she served as Vice-President 2005 through 2007 and Community Liaison from 2007 through 2010. She created SUN's first newsletter in 2008, our Block Captain program in 2009 and coordinates neighborhood volunteers. Deb led the successful petition drive to expand Residential Permit Parking (RPP) from 8th through 10th Streets in 2007 and helped complete RPP expansion to 11th Street in 2010. She coordinated tree plantings within SUN in 2007 and Organized National Nights Out from 2006-2008. Along with Sandra Soellner, Deb co-created the Safe Sun Initiative. She has dozens ...

Community LiaisonAyse Purcell
— Ayse Purcell was elected to the Board as Community Liason in November 2010. "I am very happy and excited to learn about and serve the best interests of our community. I have lived in downtown San Jose for the past three years, and I studied at San Jose State University as a graduate student in economics. I am interested in working with the University Administration on the relationship the students have with the rest of our community." Ayse was born and raised in Ankara, Turkey and came to the US in 1995. She has a ten year old daughter. She is interested in law, history and poetry, and has had some of her poetry published.
